Supplies needed
Dry wipe method
The purpose of this initial dry wipe step is to loosen any debris or body oils that are stuck to the headphones. Using a soft dry cloth, dry wipe the entire Sony XM4 headphone. Use cotton swabs to get into any crevices or creases in the earpiece area.
Wet wipe method
If your Sony XM4’s are especially dirty and the “dry wipe” step just isn’t cutting it, consider taking this additional “wet wipe” step to cut through any remaining grime. In a bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon of gentle laundry detergent with 2 cups of warm water. Using a microfiber cleaning cloth and soak it into the laundry detergent mixture. Ring out the cloth so that it is damp but not soaked. Using this damp cloth, wipe the entire surface of the headphones.
Things to avoid
It is essential that you avoid submerging or soaking your Sony XM4’s. Avoid bleach based cleaning products. Additionally, avoid using any type of cleaning wipe that has alcohol in it. The alcohol can discolor and damage the surface of your headphones, so we recommend sticking to a water-based cleaning solution.
