How To Clean Sonos Beam
(Best Cleaning Method)
The Sonos Beam is the top-of-the-line choice for homeowners looking to add a high-end soundbar to their home entertainment system that is compact, yet packs a punch.
Unfortunately, like most home sound system components, the Sonos Beam collects dust quickly, and can even scratch over time if not cleaned properly.
Luckily, learning how to clean a Sonos Beam is easy, no matter the generation of the Beam, or how long it has been since it was last cleaned.
How To Clean A Sonos Beam
The best way to clean a Sonos Beam is to use compressed air to remove surface dust, vacuum stubborn dirt out of the speaker mesh, sanitize the surface with isopropyl wipes, and place the beam back in a clean area.
In the following steps, you will learn how to clean a Sonos Beam the right way.
What You Will Need:
Steps For Cleaning Sonos Beam:
1: Remove Dust From Surrounding Area
If your Sonos Beam sits on a flat surface, dust can easily begin to pool up in the surrounding area.
To ensure that the Beam will be placed back in a dust-free area when it is done being cleaned, this area must be cleaned first.
To begin, use a household vacuum, or this highly rated shark vacuum, to suck up any dirt or debris around where your Sonos Beam lives, whether it be on a shelf, in an entertainment center, or on the wall.
2: Remove Dust From the Sonos Beam (No Contact)
Before you begin removing the dust, ensure you have a clean place to work. If you already do, continue reading.
The goal is to remove all the dust without rubbing it into the surface area of the Beam, as both the speaker mesh and painted plastic can scratch easily.
To remove dust from the Beam, spray the entire surface area with compressed air to remove as much as possible, with as little contact as possible.
Make sure to spray all particles out of the perforated speaker mesh, as this can greatly improve sound quality.
- If the speaker mesh holes aren’t clear yet, continue onto step 3.

3: Remove Dust From the Sonos Beam (Contact)
After compressed air has been used to remove dust from the Beam, it is safe to initiate a contact-based cleaning method.
If your Sonos Beam speaker grill still has dirt stuck in the perforations, use a household vacuum to suck the dirt out of the holes. Be careful to not scratch the mesh with the tip of the vacuum.
Once done, spray the plastic exterior of the Sonos Beam with a soapy water solution, avoiding spraying directly onto the speaker mesh. Wipe the plastic with a microfiber cloth.
At this stage 99% of the dust and dirt will be removed from the surface of the Beam, exposing larger bits of grime that will be targeted next.
4: Sanitize the Sonos Beam
Use 70% Isopropyl alcohol disinfectant wipes to wipe down the entire surface, including the speaker mesh, of the Sonos Beam.
This will cut through any grease that may be on the surface of the paint, as well as eliminate small smudges and scuffs.
If the Beam is wet after this step, allow it to dry before moving on.
5: Seal and Protect Sonos Beam Plastic
To finish off the cleaning process, apply a quality detail spray to the plastic surface of the Sonos Beam.
Rub the detail spray in small circular motions until all the plastic has been covered.
Detail sprays have small amounts of synthetic wax that will seal, protect, and restore the shine of your Sonos Beam.
6: Place Sonos Beam Back In Its Home
Congratulations, you have successfully cleaned your Sonos Beam. This will greatly improve the visual appearance, and potentially the sound quality.
Now that it is clean, place the Beam back in place so you can begin listening to riveting soundtracks ASAP.
