An Apple silicone case is one of the best ways you can protect your iPhone. Apple’s silicone cases are sleek and easy to hold on to with a grippy texture. If you are anything like me, there is something about having an Apple case on your iPhone that just feels right.
But, if you’ve had your case for a while, silicone can get dirty over time. Thankfully, the cleaning process is pretty straight forward.
How To Clean Apple Silicone Case
Clean your silicone iPhone case using a damp microfiber cloth, wiping the inside and the outside of the case. If necessary, you can apply a small amount of dish soap to the cloth and scrub lightly. Avoid using any sprays, solvents, ammonia, or cleaners with hydrogen peroxide that can damage your silicone case.
The good news is that even if your case is very dirty, you can probably clean it easily in just a few minutes.
Tool needed to clean your Apple silicone case
You do not need much to clean your case. All it takes is a clean cloth (we recommend a microfiber) and some water. If your case is greasy or particularly dirty, you can use a small amount of dish soap to cut through excess dirt.
The one thing you should not do is use any sprays, solvents, or chemicals on your case. Cleaning sprays and other chemicals can react with the silicone and cause discoloration and other damage to your case. What use is a clean case if you damage it in the process!
Cleaning Apple iPhone Silicone Cases with Magic Erasers
If you want your Apple silicone case to feel brand-new again, you can clean your case with a Magic Eraser. Magic Erasers are a multi-purpose cleaning tool that work well on silicone. In general, less is more when it comes to cleaning, so we recommend starting slow with the Magic Eraser.
How to clean grease or oil off of Apple iPhone Silicone Cases
If you own an iPhone you know that it is a fingerprint magnet. The same goes for iPhone cases, even if we can’t see them as clearly. Occasionally, some sort of grease or oil-based stain might get on your silicone case, but don’t worry – those stains are easy to clean off of silicone.
To remove a grease or oil stain from your Apple silicone case, use a damp microfiber cloth and a few drops of dish soap. Thoroughly scrub the case and allow the dish soap to cut through the grease. If necessary, run your case under some water to rinse the soap off. Allow your case to dry before using it again.
If your case is still dirty, you can use a vinegar solution. Using one part vinegar to one part water, soak your silicone case in the vinegar solution for approximately 5 minutes. Vinegar is an excellent natural cleaner and can cut through grease and oil easily. After soaking, scrub your case with a cloth or old toothbrush and rinse under tap water to remove the vinegar solution.
How to Clean Apple silicone case with MagSafe
If you have a MagSafe Apple silicone case, you want to be careful when cleaning it. We recommend using a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the interior and exterior of the case, but do not soak your case to avoid damaging the MagSafe technology.
How do you clean a yellow clear phone case?
If your clear silicone case has turned yellow, that is because the case has oxidized over time. Oxidization can easily be removed with some baking soda and an old toothbrush. Sprinkle baking soda on your case and wet your toothbrush. Thoroughly scrub your case with the baking soda mixture – it should turn into a paste as you scrub with your wet toothbrush. Rinse your case and if necessary, repeat the process until clean.
